Many couples choose to enjoy a special dinner on St. Valentine’s Day. Whether you drink alcohol or not, you might want to enjoy a cocktail before dinner. These Valentine’s Day cocktail recipes will provide you with several options from which to choose.
Non-Alcoholic Cocktails
Shirley Temple
* 6 ounces of ginger ale
* 1 1/2 teaspoon of grenadine (dark red syrup made from pomegranates)
Crush ice and pour ginger ale over it. Then pour the grenadine over the top. It can be garnished with maraschino cherry or an orange slice. Serve it in a cocktail glass.
Berry Sweetheart
* 3 ounces of red cranberry juice
* 3 ounces of apple juice
* 1 ounce of honey
Add ice to a highball glass. In another glass mix the ingredients together and then pour the mixture into the highball glass. Place a maraschino cherry as a garnish.
Beach Blanket Bingo
* 3 ounces of grapefruit juice
* 3 ounces of cranberry juice
* Soda water
Pour the two juices into a cocktail glass which has been filled with ice. Top it off with soda and place a wedge of lime on the rim of the glass as a garnish.
Hot Spiced Cider
* 2 quarts of apple cider
* 1/4 cup of sugar
* 10 whole cloves
* 6 whole allspice pods
* 4 sticks of cinnamon
Place all ingredients in a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Allow it to boil for five minutes. Strain the spices out and pour into cups. Garnish with orange slices if desired.
Alcoholic Cocktails
Agave Kiss
* 2 ounces of tequila
* 1 ounce of white crème de cacao
* 1 ounce of double cream
* 1/2 ounce of Chambord
Crush ice and add it to a cocktail shaker. To that add ingredients, cover and shake for 15 seconds. Pour it into a chilled cocktail glass which has been rimmed with white chocolate flakes. Use fresh cranberries as garnish.
Death by Chocolate
* 1 cup of crushed ice
* 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream
* 1 ounce of chocolate syrup
* 1 ounce of coffee liqueur
* 1 ounce of dark crème de cacao
* 1 ounce of vodka
Put all ingredients into a blender and blend it until smooth. Pour into a stemmed glass and top the drink with whipped cream. For a garnish you can add a maraschino cherry or a sprig of fresh mint.
Party Mimosa
* 12 ounces of apricot-mango nectar
* 12 ounces of pineapple juice
* 3/4 cup of cold water
* 6 ounce can of frozen orange juice which has been thawed – do not dilute
* Bottle of sparkling juice or champagne
Pour all of the ingredients except the sparkling juice or champagne in a large pitcher. Stir until well combined. Just before serving the cocktail, pour in a bottle of sparkling juice or champagne.
