My kids get this great magazine in the mail: Your Big Backyard they love it. Well the reason I’m telling you about it is because every issue has a couple of crafts in them and so I figured what better place to share them than here at Mommy Hobby. So here are the instructions from the December 2007 issue of Your Big Backyard for making your own Puffy Paint.
What you need:
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup salt
1/3 cup water
tempera or acrylic paints
paper cups
Combine the flour, salt, and water. Stir until there are no lumps. The resulting mixture is the white plain base that you can use to make other colors.
Spoon small amounts of the base into paper cups. Stir in just enough tempera or acrylic paint to make the desired colors. If you want to make the base even whiter, you can add a bit of white paint to it.
Store paint in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
***Makes 1 cup of paint
We’d love it if you’d share your child’s puffy paint artwork with us. Have fun!
