In the charity world, the use of the word “childcare” isn’t so much about babysitting or daycare service, though some of the childcare charities do offers resources for just that. Instead, childcare refers to charities whose primary function or intent is to help with the care of children.Consider these organizations if you are looking to help childcare charities.
Newborns in Need
This group (www.newbornsinneed.org) is a charity specifically designed to help mothers who have delivered preterm babies.
These tiny children can be especially hard to fit in terms of baby clothes and diapers, plus they often require swaddling or wrapping in several blankets in order to conserve their precious body heat. This charity helps by providing clothing and blankets for preemies as well as disadvantaged or underprivileged children.
Share Our Strength
No one likes to think about anyone being hungry, but for some reason, the thought of a child being without food seems especially heartrending. Perhaps it is because the child literally has no way of procuring food for himself; someone must do it for him. This is where Share our Strength can help.
The difference between this charitable organization and others that provide food for hungry children is that the food provided through Share our Strength goes to children right here in America who are hungry. So often we forget that hunger is a problem in this great country of ours, too, but thankfully organizations such as this one don’t forget.

KABOOM!
As special needs children continue to be “mainstreamed” into regular classrooms or provisions are made for them to receive special education at regular public schools, the need for playground equipment that will allow them to play and get exercise just like the other boys and girls is growing.
KABOOM! is a charity dedicated to this cause. For more information, you can call 202-659-0215, extension 225, or go to www.kaboom.org.
NCMEC
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) is perhaps one of the most important, if not the most dedicated, charities when it comes to caring for children. It is through the efforts of this organization that hundreds of missing children have been returned to their parents, and others who may not only be missing but have also been sexually exploited have been rescued from such a heinous life.
These are just a few examples of charities that truly do provide the type of child care needed – that of helping those children who literally cannot help themselves. The ones listed are indicative of those that provide help for the tiniest of the children to those who are older but face each day literally not knowing where their next meal is coming from to other children who may need specific help.
