Have you heard the expression, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away?” Did you know that “A banana a day chases the mommy blahs away? Most of us think of fruit as a good source of vitamins for our bodies. Well, they are also good for our skin and hair. Several women around or related to me believe whole heartedly in holistic herbs, and using natural fresh ingredients for Health, Beauty, and Well Being.
I also know how hard it is for busy moms to find even a second a day to do something good for ourselves. Sports practice, bills, diapers, and cleaning leave us most of the time wishing we had just a second for a shower.
Well, I believe that we deserve a few seconds of pampering every once in a while. Just a quick moment that leaves us feeling relaxed and fresh, and maybe even a little sexier. Here are just a couple of recipes I have been fortunate enough to have shared with me. Take a moment just for you and give them a try. They won’t break the bank, and most of the ingredients you already have.
Banana & Honey Mask
Ingredients
½ of a Banana mashed
¼ cup of oatmeal- cooked with milk
1 Egg
½ tbls Honey
Directions
Mix ingredients together. Then apply to your face using a slow circular motion. Leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water, and pat dry your face. This mask is good for sensitive skin, as well as dry complexions.
Orange & Chamomile Hair Rinse
Ingredients
1cup fresh Chamomile flowers or ½ cup dried
Peel of one Orange
1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
2 cups of Water
Directions
Mix ingredients in a saucepan, and simmer for 6 to 8 minutes. Let the mixture cool. Apply to just washed hair, and leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse, dry, and style your hair as usual. The vinegar helps remove dead skin cells and helps with Dandruff. The Chamomile is a wonderfully relaxing scent, and combined with the orange leaves your hair soft, shiny, and clean.
Mother’s work very hard, and every now and then we need to remember to pamper ourselves.
