Alternatives to Halloween

Many people still enjoy the traditional costumes and going door-to-door on Halloween evening. However, more and more people are turning towards finding alternatives to Halloween trick or treating.

Some families, particularly Christian families do not believe in the celebration of Halloween, but rather in the celebration of the fall season. Some of them still allow the kids to dress up in costumes, although nothing too scary. Instead of going door-to-door, they put on a party with games, food, activities, craft making and candy. The kids have a great time, as well as the adults.

Some of the activities that they partake in include apple bobbing, leaf impressions, leaf waxing and scarecrow making. They can go from station-to-station and collect different candies at each one.

Most kids are happy with going to a fall festival as opposed to going door-to-door to collect their candy. This is especially true if their best friends are doing it with them. It is safer for the kids and less worrisome for Mom and Dad.

This year suggest having a fall festival to your church. If you want to have your own fall festival you can be the host and encourage the neighbors to help you out. It does not have to be elaborate, just something that the kids will enjoy.
