Are you confused by the dramatically inconsistent ratings? I was.

I've used a DeLonghi toaster oven for the past six years, and I got that from my mother who used it for about a year before she gave it to me. About three months ago, it gave up the ghost with a *pop* and a slight smell of burnt toaster innards.
I thought it would be a simple thing to find a decent replacement, but when I logged on to read the reviews of various toaster ovens, including this one, I was quickly confused. Ratings veered wildly from one star to five stars. A large number of buyers wrote that this toaster oven burnt toast on the lowest setting, others said it was a great piece of equipment. I found the same discrepacy in the reviews for every other toaster oven I checked out.
Finally, I decided I'd never find a toaster oven based on reviews. I was tired of not having a toaster oven, and since the DeLonghi brand worked for me before, I figured I might as well try it again. If it didn't work, I'd return it.
Well, it works fine. In fact, it's great. The default setting for toast is T-4, which is right in the middle of the 7 possible settings. I make my own bread, and it toasts beautifully on setting T-3. I've also used this little oven to heat up frozen veggie burgers and do some other general toast-oven-type tasks and I'm very pleased with it.
This toaster oven is a great improvement over my previous one: it's evenly cooked everything I've put in it, every piece of toast I've made has come out just fine, and it looks great. Some reviewers hate the beeping noise it makes when buttons are pushed, but I don't find the sound to be any more irritating than the noise made when I'm setting the temperature or timer on my full-size oven. The oven rack doesn't pull out automatically when the door opens, but this isn't a problem for me. The glass is tinted, and that makes it a little more difficult to look inside at what is cooking, but that doesn't bother me. I can always open the door for a quick peek if necessary.
So, I'm adding my positive review to the mix. If anything happens to change my mind, I'll update this review.

Much better than most smaller toaster ovens.

I have been using a Hamilton Beach toast station for about a year; it toasts great, but has limited room for taller rolls and bread. Since I am using more rolls than toast lately, I decided that a small toaster oven would work better for me at the moment.
I wanted electronic controls, since many of the mechanical controls seem to get stuck in the "on" position, and cause the occasional fire (!) I also needed a smaller toaster oven; I do not cook whole pizzas or family sized portions in the thing, and I have very limited counter space, so there was no need for a giant machine. This narrowed down my choices considerably.
I first tried a Kenmore (looks like it was made by Black and Decker), but you could not adjust the temperature once you set it without totally exiting out of the mode it was in and shutting it off! That was very annoying, so I returned it. This Delonghi seemed to be both the right size and had the right controls, so I figured I would try it.
I am very happy with it. It warms bread and rolls nicely; I get good results with my toast; and the controls are easy to set and adjust without having to shut the whole thing down if you make a mistake. Also on the plus side, the plastic odor that is common in these things when they are new was very minimal in this one, and went away very quickly.
The beep IS loud, but after a couple of weeks I stopped noticing it, so it's not a deal breaker for me.
This impresses me as a better made product than most of the smaller ovens out there, and hopefully it will live up to my expectations for its longevity. All-in-all, I think it is a very good choice for a small toaster oven, and I would definitely recommend it over the competition. |

| I owned a DeLonghi toaster oven for the past 5 years and LOVED it. So when I needed to buy a new one I went for the DeLonghi name... what a disappointment. This toaster oven burns everything I toast on the LOWEST setting. Now when I use it I have to stand over it to stop it early. Unfortunately there is no way to lower the setting and if I use it for a subsequent toasting, it burns faster! I have never reviewed any of my many Amazon purchases, but this one was so bad I need to say- Look for a different toaster oven, don't waste your money on this one! | This oven looks good but has stopped working at 13 months, just out of warranty. Despite it's good looks the controls always felt illogical too me. Also, this oven does not toast evenly. I am kinda glad it has stopped working so I can get something better, if less attractive. |
