If you’re a mother, you know what the experience of pregnancy is like. It’s not fun. It can be very uncomfortable, and worst of all you can get really sick. The child may never appreciate all the things you put up with during pregnancy, and your husband will never completely understand, but in the end… it’s all worth it. So, to make the experience just a little bit better, here’s a list of the top things every mom should get during pregnancy. You deserve it!
- Stretch Mark Cream
About half of all women will develop stretch marks during pregnancy. They will fade over time, but they won’t ever completely go away. The important thing to remember here is to get a product that contains vitamin E. Vitamin E is what helps prevent stretch marks the best. Don’t just get regular cocoa butter; make sure it’s got vitamin E! I don’t have a recommended brand, so post one in the comments if you have a favorite. There’s a descent discussion about it posted here.
- Comfortable Underwear
This is a big deal, especially in the later months of pregnancy. One of the worst parts of pregnancy can be how uncomfortable you can get at times. Good maternity underwear will help you be more comfortable. The biggest help in the world towards the end of your pregnancy can be some underwear that actually provides support.
- A Body Pillow
Is that big belly going to make it hard to sleep at night? Yes, it definitely is. These things can help you finally get comfortable and fall asleep at night. They can be a bit pricey, but I’ve heard women say they wouldn’t have made it trough pregnancy without one. I’ve found some good recommendations here.
- Prenatal Supplements
Getting the proper amounts of vitamins and minerals are very important for proper fetal growth. It’s a good idea to talk to a professional when deciding what to take, especially if you plan on taking individual vitamins for certain minerals. You could get too much of one thing if you’re not careful.
- A Maternity Belly Band
Every woman should have one of these when they’re pregnant. They are fairly cheap (most are around $20 or so) and they can be used in combination or to replace maternity underwear. Again, the key with this is to get something that actually provides support for your belly. I’d only recommend one brand that I know of because it’s made in the USA and provides real support for the lumbar region, and that is Belevation’s Maternity Belly Band. I’ve seen moms go crazy over this thing. It’s a simple concept, but it works so well!
Those are my 5 biggest recommendations to an expecting mom. What are your must have items for pregnancy? What can you not live without? I’d love to know in the comments!
