Planning a child’s birthday in 5 easy steps

When it comes to party planning, one of the hardest parties to plan is that of your children. Indeed, a child’s birthday has unique specifications that can be difficult. Not only do you want to make it fun – you also have to keep your guests happy and engaged the whole time. If your child is younger than five or six, you may have some serious meltdowns and temper tantrums if you don’t plan accordingly. When it comes down to it, though, once you have all the steps down, your party planning will go off without a hitch. Here is how to plan a child’s birthday party in five easy steps.

  1. Ask your child what kind of theme he or she would like for the party. There is a good chance that your child will have a specific theme. What child doesn’t have a favorite movie character or super hero? Having a theme will allow you the opportunity to streamline the planning process.

  2. Create a list of people your child wants to invite and create invitations. After you decide on the theme, you can start putting together an initial list of people you want to invite. Having this list done will allow you to focus on the party planning process and all the little details. Typically, you want to work with your child to come up with this list. There may be some friends that don’t really get along. The last thing you want is animosity at your party. Your main priority is to make the party fun and whom you invite is integral to this factor.

  3. Find a venue where you will be hosting the party. When it comes down to it, you want to find a venue that is big enough to fit your guest list. Moreover, you are hosting a child’s birthday party, so you probably don’t want to rent a ballroom at your local hotel. Ideally, you want to choose someplace that is fun and that has a lot of games. If your backyard is big enough, you could host the party there. However, you need to make sure that it is safe enough for children to play in.

  4. Find a party rental service and rent the necessary equipment you need. After you have your location, you can start renting the necessary equipment and party supplies. Of course, you will need chairs, tables and other items. However, you may also need lights and decorations. You can usually visit a website or retail store like Just Artifacts for all your party needs. If you have a specific theme you are working with, you will need to decorate accordingly.

  5. Invite your guests. On top of everything, you want to invite your guests. In order to do this, you want to create an invite with the time of the party and the location. You can then hand the invites out to friends or mail them to various addresses. In the end, you want to be careful – the last thing you want is to leave someone out or hurt someone’s feelings.
