Everyone should have a good first aid kit handy. I keep one in my vehicle at all times. I also check it frequently. You never know when an emergency will arise. With children everyone knows that the likelihood of an emergency is even greater.
Being prepared for an emergency can make the difference between a frantic situation and a calm situation. Of course, we are striving for a calm scenario at all times in life. Who needs the stress of the reverse? If you do not have a first aid kit in your car, get one. If you cannot afford to buy one of those fancy, already made up first aid kits, make your own.
Here are some items that belong in everyone’s first aid kit:
- Band-aids, various sizes
- Triple antibiotic ointment
- Steri-strips
- Tweezers
- Sterile gauze
- Paper tape
- Ice packs
- Ace bandage
- Benadryl
- Aspirin
- Tylenol, adult and child
- Antiseptic wipes
- A blanket
- Water
- Gloves
- A book on basic first aid
Make sure that you put a few of each of the above items into your first aid kit. Better to have more than you need than not enough of what you need. Do not let an emergency catch you off guard and unprepared. Be a safety nut!
