Did you know that May was declared national strawberry month? Who doesn’t just love the taste of this mouthwatering fruit? Not only do strawberries taste delicious and rank high on the list of the top, best tasting fruit, but they are packed with vitamin C. In addition to that, strawberries are low in calories. Now these are facts that one cannot argue with.
Okay, so we know that strawberries are low cal and high in vitamin C, but did you also know that they contain zero cholesterol and zero saturated fats. Furthermore, strawberries are good for your heart, as they may reduce the risk for heart attacks and cancer to boot!
Want to get your kids involved in a strawberry celebration? Let them make strawberry shortcakes with you. Not only will they have a blast making them, but they will likely enjoy their dessert tenfold because they “made it themselves”.
The fast way to make this little dessert is to use those little dessert cups that are sold in the store. You can then use frozen strawberries with the juice or fresh strawberries. Fresh strawberries rank hands down the best and most nutritious way to go, but frozen strawberries have that great juice. Your choice! To top it all off as magnificent and glorious you can then pile on the whipped cream. You can also, if you choose, to make the cake from scratch first.
Come on world! Salute the strawberry!
