Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in the first week of May throughout Mexico and the United States. This amazing celebration is due to a battle among the Mexicans and the French in Mexico during 1862. The Mexican people numbered 4,000 while the French was more than twice that in army size. Even so, the Mexican people were victorious.
To celebrate the triumph of the Mexican people the Cinco de Mayo events honor their courage and their bravery with a festive holiday. This holiday gathering generally includes a parade and other eventful memories, such as great food, dancing, carnivals, fairs, music and more.
Thousands and sometimes hundreds of thousands of people are present for this gala celebration. This is not just for the people who are Mexican either. Many people who are not Mexican in heritage love to attend this celebration and to teach their children about this fascinating piece of history.
